
Why the SK15 Ceramic Holder Actually Matters
Most of us start out with a single infrared lamp. But let’s be honest: a loose tube isn’t a system. It’s just a part. If you want something that actually works the moment you flip the switch, you need a way to hold that lamp in place—and it has to be something that won’t melt the second things get hot. That’s where the SK15 ceramic holder comes in.
Why ceramic? Because plastic melts.
It’s pretty simple. If you use plastic or some cheap composite, it’s going to burn out the moment you hit peak temps. Ceramic doesn’t care. It takes the heat without warping or twisting. And that’s a big deal. If your lamp shifts even a little bit, you end up with hot spots or, worse, a cracked tube. The SK15 gives you a solid grip, and it makes swapping lamps a breeze. You don’t have to rip out the wiring of your entire chassis just to change a bulb.
Bending the rules (and the modules)
Straight tubes are great, but they aren’t always enough for the weirdly shaped parts we usually deal with. So, we take those lamps and build them into curved or bent heating modules. By pairing the SK15 holders with a rigid frame, we can give you a module that just drops right into your machine. It saves you a ton of time. You don’t have to spend your afternoon messing with brackets or stressing over the exact gap between the lamp and your workpiece. We’ve already done the math on the geometry for you.
The catch: Power vs. Heat
Here is the thing you need to watch out for: power density. When you pack high-wattage lamps into a tight module, things get hot—fast. That’s great for production, but it means the frame around those lamps is taking a beating. You’ve got to make sure your cooling fans or airflow can handle the rise in ambient temperature. If you don’t, you’re looking at degraded wiring insulation over time, and nobody wants to deal with that. We ship these as complete modules so you can skip the headache of wiring them up on the shop floor. Just plug them in and get to work.
